I have had to re-install the much more stable 8.10 (Intrepid) on 2 of my machines because of it, since not only does this effect Intel but also ATI, and pushing out the unready PulseAudio was a big mistake too. I for one have lost a hell of a lot of respect for the Ubuntu devs after this disaster of a release and it honestly makes me wonder if these releases are even tested at all for things
